Oroton takes out accolade for multichannel excellence- 2012 ebay/ PayPal Multichannel Retailer of the Year announced today, SYDNEY

Peak retail body the Australian Retailers Association (ARA) announced Oroton as 2012 eBay & PayPal Australian Multichannel Retailer of the Year at the Australian Retail Awards breakfast in Sydney this morning.

ARA Executive Director Russell Zimmerman said Oroton was to be commended for its insight into the needs of the constantly connected consumer in today’s retail environment.

“As a key Australian retail brand, Oroton has left no stone unturned when it comes to connecting with new and existing customers on their terms and in the spaces they operate, which include cyberspace,” Zimmerman said.

The award for 2012 eBay & PayPal Australian Multichannel Retailer of the Year was presented to Oroton by eBay’s Director of Business to Consumer Strategy Hamish Moline at this morning’s awards breakfast in Sydney.

“The Oroton brand is an icon of Australian retail, known for superior quality, fashion and beautiful merchandising.  Walking into an Oroton shopfront has always provided a delightful retail experience; this experience now carries to all of their online properties making a mobile, desktop, tablet or in-store experience as special and consistent as one another. They stand out from the crowd and are well positioned to meet the needs of today’s hyper connected consumer.  They should be congratulated on their well-deserved recognition as multi-channel retailer of the year,” Mr Moline said.

Attendees at today’s ARA Australian Retail Awards breakfast were treated to a keynote address from Myer CEO and Managing Director Bernie Brookes, head of what many call a centrepiece of Australian retail.

Mr Brookes said, “As a retailer I was absolutely thrilled to be addressing a room of fellow industry enthusiasts who were not only passionate, but also achieving excellence in Australian retail every day.”

Awards and winners announced at the breakfast are as follows: Visa Australian Retailer of the Year awarded to Pandora, BDO Australian Retail Employer of the Year awarded to Jeanswest, eftpos Australian Independent Retailer of the Year awarded to eyeclarity, The Realise Group Australian Retail Innovator of theYear awarded to Lenard’s Chicken  and Deakin University Australian Retail Graduate of the Year awarded to Jo- Anne Oakeshott (Sunglass Hut/ Luxottica) . The ARA also introduced two new awards: eBay & PayPal Australian Multichannel Retailer of the Year awarded to Oroton and FCB Australian Retail HR Practitioner of the Year awarded to Joanne Ryan, Super Retail Group.
