Super Retail Group HR manager takes out top retail HR award- 2012 FCB Australian Retail HR Practitioner of the Year announced today,SYDNEY



Peak retail body the Australian Retailers Association(ARA) announced Joanne Ryan from Super Retail Group as FCB Australian Retail HRPractitioner of the Year at the 2012 Australian Retail Awards breakfast in Sydney this morning.

ARA Executive Director Russell Zimmerman saidJoanne was to be commended for an excellent submission and her commitment to humanresources and employee development in the retail sector.

“Joanne began her career in retail 20 yearsago, and has proven that leadership, passion and an unbending commitment toquality retail HR practices lead to successful teams; which ultimately leads tobusiness success,” Zimmerman said.

FCB Managing Partner Campbell Fisherpresented the award for 2012 FCB Australian Retail HR Practitioner of the Yearto Ms Ryan at this morning’s breakfast.

“FCB has been working with retailers for over15 years, including providing employment relations advice and services to theARA’s 5000 members. We are proud to be sponsoring and presenting the inauguralRetail HR Practitioner of the Year Award. Joanne Ryan has certainly proven herselfto be an advocate for best human resource management practice in the retailsector during her retail career spanning 20 years. Attendees at today’s ARA Australian RetailAwards breakfast were treated to a keynote address from Myer CEO and Managing DirectorBernie Brookes, head of what many call a centrepiece of Australian retail.

Mr Brookes said, “As a retailer I wasabsolutely thrilled to be addressing a room of fellow industry enthusiasts whowere not only passionate, but also achieving excellence in Australian retailevery day.”

Awards and winners announcedat the breakfast are as follows: Visa Australian Retailer of the Year awardedto Pandora, BDO Australian Retail Employer of the Year awarded to Jeanswest,eftpos Australian Independent Retailer of the Year awarded to eyeclarity, TheRealise Group Australian Retail Innovator of theYear awarded to Lenard’sChicken  and Deakin University AustralianRetail Graduate of the Year awarded to Jo- Anne Oakeshott (Sunglass Hut/Luxottica) . The ARA also introduced two new awards: eBay & PayPal AustralianMultichannel Retailer of the Year awarded to Oroton and FCB Australian RetailHR Practitioner of the Year awarded to Joanne Ryan, Super Retail Group.
