Annual Leave and Personal Leave Calculations under the Standard

Personal Leave

Personal Leave (Sick Leave) is a guaranteed entitlement under the Australian Fair Pay Commission Standard, whereby employees are entitled to accrue and access up to 10 days per year.

Formula to calculate Personal Leave entitlements:

Under the Standard for every completed 4 weeks you tally the total number of nominal hours an employee has worked during that period and divide by 26. This provides the number of personal leave hours accrued during that period.

E.g. a full time employee working 38 ordinary hours per week works 152 ordinary hours over a 4 week period - divide this figure by 26 which equal 5.85 hours of Personal Leave accrued during that period.

38 * 4 = 152

152 / 26 = 5.85 hours

Annual Leave

Annual Leave is a guaranteed entitlement under the Australian Fair Pay and Conditions Standard, whereby employees are entitled to accrue and access up to 20 days per year.

Formula to calculate Annual Leave entitlements:

Under the Standard for every completed 4 weeks you tally the total number of nominal hours an employee has worked during that period and divide by 13. This provides the number of Annual Leave hours accrued during that period.

E.g. For. For a full time employee working 38 hours per week works 152 ordinary hours over a 4 week period - divide this figure by 13 which equal 11.69 hours of Annual Leave accrued.

38 * 4 = 152

152 / 13 = 11.69 hours
