Experience

Doug has over 25 years experience working with leading Australian banks and retail service providers. Having held Executive Management roles covering; Marketing, Sales, Regional  Management, Human Resources, Strategy Development, Cultural Alignment, Compliance and Financial Control. Doug is currently working broadly as a Trainer, Consultant and Coach, specialising in improving a range of “soft skills”, including; sales, leadership, planning, staff engagement, teamwork and negotiation skills. Doug has a Bachelor of Business, Master of Business Administration and  formal Executive Coaching qualifications. This ensures clients benefit from up to date theoretical knowledge applied in a proven, practical manner to deliver outstanding results.

As a Specialist Retail Executive, Doug has led a significant range of businesses in areas of Change Management, Business Planning and Performance Improvement, to enhance their results through consistency of effort, creating a culture of excellence and setting engaging directions for the team. Doug has delivered successes across a broad range of business environments from his own business, to small retail chains, to iconic West Australian and Australian brands. His passion for people, mixed with a practical approach to problem solving has created sustainable growth and success in the many and varied retail roles he has undertaken. 

As a Specialist Trainer, Doug delivers training in an engaging manner to ensure participants get the most of out of the learning topic. Facilitating professional workshops and seminars focused on delivering a change in behaviours, skills and knowledge. Doug has the ability to explain complex, new and different concepts in a way that makes sense and challenges accepted paradigms. His approach is one of facilitating discussion to explore a range of ideas and responses from learners. In this way concepts are challenged and broken down to their underlying principles. This allows adaption and application of ideas across a broad range of situations.

  • Retail Leader – As an executive, Doug has led teams of up to 200 people, across 15 stores, with profits in excess of $50 m pa. He has project managed numerous store openings, closures and re-fits with budgets up to $2 m per store. Doug consistently delivers industry leading sales growth through developing highly effective sales teams.
