Course Description

This one day course is designed to provide participants with knowledge on the new legislative requirements regarding risk management and consultation. The focus is on the proactive systematic management of safety through the development of OHS programs and procedures. The course also offers the opportunity to discuss specific workplace consultation issues and strategies for improving consultation within each participant's workplace.

This course is designed for members of the OHS Committee, OHS Representatives and managers involved with the consultative forum.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of the course, participants will be able to:

• Review the effectiveness of the operation of the committee, so that areas where improvements can be made can be addressed.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of the workplace OHS management system and identify and prioritise those areas which should receive the attention of the committee.
• Develop basic strategies to enable the committee to deal with problems in the working of the committee and the way in which the committee addresses OHS issues.
• Develop an action plan which will enable the committee or representatives to function effectively.
