This workshop provides managers with the skills and knowledge required to effectively establish and manage effective workplace teams in accordance with corporate culture. It involves developing and designing performance management processes to meet business objectives, and where appropriate rewarding high performance or addressing poor performance. The workshop investigates skills required to build and maintain trust within the team, and assists leaders in understanding the influence their leadership has on performance and team dynamics. In particular this program addresses how leaders can grow their own leadership skills in order to be more effective in the leadership of their teams.
With a focus on the importance of communication both to the team and within the team, the content looks at feedback as a valuable tool in managing performance. Coaching, training, counselling, disciplinary action and terminating employees are explored and addressed in order to ensure leaders understand the legalities and their obligations. Finally this unit also covers the issue of workplace politics and approaches available to deal with workplace conflict.
