The Australian Retailers Association (ARA) pay tribute towards the recent passing of our inaugural and former President, Director of jewellery chain Angus & Coote and the Founder of the Mulloon Institute, Tony (Anthony) Coote AM.
Tony was an exceptional businessman, an outstanding leader and an inspiration to many. He was a passionate leader and advocate in Australian retail, receiving the Order of Australia. His influence has shaped today’s retail industry and his legacy will continue to drive Australian retail forward for generations to come.
Retailers and key industry stakeholders across the country have been reflecting on Tony’s impact in Australian Retail.
“Tony Coote was at the forefront of driving retail forward, leading the discussion of trading hours which we are still discuss today,” ARA Executive Director, Russell Zimmerman said.
“The ARA extend our condolences to Tony’s wife, children and family as he will be missed by many.”
To commemorate Tony’s life, his family will be holding two celebrations:
- The first on Friday 31st August at his favourite sporting club in Sydney from 2.30 – 4.30pm.
- The second at his home, Mulloon Creek Natural Farms in Bungendore on Sunday 9th September from 2.00 – 4.30pm.
