ARA tenancy – Do you have the knowledge and confidence to negotiate a retail lease?

When negotiating retail rents with landlords, retailers often find themselves on an uneven playing field making it seem near impossible to negotiate effectively.

The ARA is delivering a series of free courses via online webinars and a concluding workshop (paid workshop $25) to provide South Australian retailers with the knowledge and confidence to successfully negotiate their retail leases. Attendees will learn more about the Retail and Commercial Leases Act 1995 and their rights and responsibilities as well as the fundamentals on how to research and evaluate retail lease terms.

During this course attendees can expect to learn:

– How to negotiate a retail lease effectively

– The keys to negotiating with lessors in relation to new sites

– Rental reviews and renewal of leases

– Advice on what to do to manage excessive rents when retail sales aren’t growing

– Tips on how to find out what rent they should be paying.

The interactive webinars and workshop will be facilitated by keynote speaker Phil Chapman, Founder and Chairman of Lease 1, Australia’s leading retail lease consultancy firm. Attendees will be given the opportunity to interact with Phil through Q&A during the webinars and a meet and greet at the concluding workshop.

South Australian Small Business Commissioner John Chapman will also be in attendance throughout the series and will explain in further detail how his office can assist South Australian retailers.
