Last-minute Valentine’s Day Gifts

Valentine’s Day marks the perfect occasion to wine and dine your significant other and express your love and devotion through the exchange of meaningful and well-thought-out gifts. While this sounds ideal, the reality is finding the perfect gift can be a difficult and arduous task.

To ensure ready for the upcoming romantic holiday, the ARA have devised a list of the perfect last-minute gift ideas to help you express your love for your significant other.

Flowers

Whether it’s single rose or a dozen, flowers are a traditional and effortless way to show to express your appreciation for that special someone.Gerry Gerrard, CEO of Interflora, said when it comes to purchasing flowers, he has noticed a shift in consumer preferences, with many people now gearing towards purchasing more meaningful arrangements.

“Although roses are still a popular choice for Valentine’s Day, tastes and trends are changing with a rise in popularity of other coloured roses and indeed different flower varieties such as lilies and wildflowers. More often, people are choosing flowers and colours that have specific meaning for their relationship and personal tastes,” Mr Webb said.

Whether you’re taking the traditional route of purchasing roses or considering your own personal and meaningful floral arrangement, flowers are a beautiful way to show your affection for your special someone.

Chocolates

What better way to accompany those gorgeous flowers then with some decadent chocolates? Chocolate retailer, Koko Black have recently released a range of heart-shaped fruit caramels and signature praline gift boxes, with customers even adding Valentine’s Day gift cards to their purchase to display their love. With chocolate retailers such as Koko Black offering specialty items, there are a variety of options for you to purchase scrumptious treats to share with your loved one.

Jewellery

According to finder.com based on expenditure from 2017, men were anticipated to spend on average $386 dollars or more on presents for their partners, while women were expected to spend around $267 dollars and this figure is only set to increase in 2019.

With wedding proposals and anniversaries popular around this time of year, Jewellery has long been established as the ultimate way to celebrate and commemorate love. Carson Webb, General Manager of Jimaco Ltd and Showcase Jewellery Buying Group said Valentine’s Day is the perfect time to gift a precious gemstone, as they hold sentimental meaning and can last a lifetime.

“Nothing says “I love you” more than a diamond does. Diamonds are so unique in their own right and can be handed down from generation to generation,” Mr Webb said.

Jewellery is also a timeless and classic gift that will never wilt or melt, and your local retailer is sure to be well-equipped with dazzling sparklers to brighten your special someone’s day.

Fragrances

As once expressed by the beautiful actress Elizabeth Taylor “the beauty of fragrance is that it speaks to your heart…and hopefully someone else’s.” And she’s correct, fragrances are personal and can also bring on memories of a specific person, place, time or event. Many department stores, niche boutique retailers and pharmacies will be plentiful with hot offers on luxury scents, to help you reminisce in an old memory or start a new one.

A experience voucher

While gifts are a tangible item for your partner to flaunt or spray, a gift voucher is the perfect present for those time-poor romantics. Instead of your standard super group or movie voucher, why not opt for something different like an experience voucher. At the click of a button, you can purchase the ultimate experience for you and your partner to try, ranging from secluded picnics and sunset helicopter rides, to something more daring like shark diving or race car driving. This could be an excellent opportunity to step out of your comfort zones and be a little adventurous.

So whether you’re planning to spoil your significant other with extravagant gifts or simply writing them a meaningful card, there are endless ways to express how much your love this Valentine’s Day.
