New retail graduates ready and able for Christmas trading (QLD)

Are you looking for enthusiastic and dedicated team members leading up to Christmas? The ARA’s Retail Institute has 58 great graduates recently graduated from our Retail Ready and Able program in Queensland ready to join your teams in time for the Christmas rush.

Retail Ready and Able is an innovative program funded by the Queensland government to provide training and employment pathways for young people living with a disability.

All graduates have already gone through an intensive program to ensure retail readiness and will receive ongoing with mentoring and coaching from industry experts from disability employment service providers.

Research conducted by Queensland’s Department of Youth, Employment and Training confirms that employees with a disability are:

  • Reliable,
  • Trustworthy,
  • Loyal,
  • Take fewer sick days, and
  • Grateful for their job opportunity

The Retail Institute has already provided Retail Ready and Able graduates with retail specific skills that include:

  • Engaging with customers
  • Working as a team
  • Communicating using professional verbal and non-verbal communications
  • Working with difficult customers
  • Working in a service environment
  • Understanding Workplace Health and Safety in Retail

With over 50 candidates currently looking for placements in Queensland, we are looking for members with a commitment to inclusive workplaces to provide interview opportunities and – hopefully – employment opportunities.

To find out more about the program and graduate details, including information regarding wage subsidies that may be available to your business, contact our Program Manager, Judi Mare, at RetailInstitute@retail.org.au or 1300 368 041.
